TWI 2023 Annual Board Meeting

Gathering at the Tisbury Senior Center

The Tisbury Waterways, Inc. Board of Directors met October 19 at the Tisbury Senior Center for its annual meeting to elect Board members and officers and conduct other business. A list of TWI Board members and officers is always available at the Home page of this website. (Scroll to bottom.)

Following the official business of the Board, a two-part program - open to the public - began. More detail on these excellent presentations is available by clicking on the highlighted text below.

Chris Scott, general manager of the Safe Harbor marinas in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, explained how Safe Harbor received its prestigious Clean Marina Certification from the Association of Marine Industries. Safe Harbor was the first marina in Massachusetts to receive the Certification and remains one of only six in the nation.

Nelson Sigelman, a Tisbury Shellfish Assistant funded in part by TWI, talked about his shellfish propagation project.  Sigelman’s work focused on protecting juvenile quahogs from green crabs and other threats. His experiments in Tashmoo demonstrated that raising quahogs in netted boxes until they reach a certain size makes them less susceptible to predation when they are released in the wild.
